EXCERPT FROM MOUSELAND
as told by Tommy Douglas

And every time on election day all the little mice used to go to the ballot box and they used to elect a government. A government made up of big, fat, black cats....

You see, my friends, the trouble wasn't with the colour of the cat. The trouble was that they were cats. And because they were cats, they naturally looked after cats instead of mice.

It’s time for change.

You have a decision to make.

If you're like most of the people in Saint John Harbour, you're feeling left out of the political process. You may even be asking yourself, "Why vote? It's not going to make a difference!"

You may be right … if you vote for either of the two parties currently in the legislature. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between them.

You're not the only one feeling that way. Many of your friends are looking at the Liberals. And then looking at the Conservatives. And they're saying, "How can I trust either of those parties? They say one thing ... and then as soon as they're elected, they change their tune and do what they want. I just feel they don't keep their word."

I've felt like that too. I wanted a change. That's why I became a candidate for the NDP.

You can help change happen. All you have to do is remember the past. Remember the difference that one person, Elizabeth Weir, made in New Brunswick? Remember how she spoke out and held the government accountable? Remember how you voted her in again and again and were proud of her?

One person who valued democracy made a difference. And will make a difference. That's why so many of your friends are voting for me, Wayne Dryer. Your friends are voting for me because ... a vote for the NDP shows that you want someone speaking out for you in Fredericton. You want someone challenging those Liberals and Conservatives, making them do what's right for you. You want someone who isn't held silent by party politics and instead has the freedom to speak out. For you.

One person can make a difference for the better. And when you vote for me, Wayne Dryer, this September you will be one step closer to the change you want.

I know Wayne will be an excellent MLA because he is a genuine person. He has three decades of community involvement while also raising a family and running a small business. That demonstrates not only his incredible work ethic, but also his ability to listen and cooperate to help find meaningful solutions to issues facing Saint John Harbour and beyond. I wanted him to take up the nomination for these reasons and also because everyone you talk to has something positive to say when they mention Wayne. He is the best person for the job in Saint John Harbour.
